Laboratory / Technical

 Key Responsibilities


  • Prepare operating procedures for all instrumentation testing techniques.
  • Ensure that operating staff are properly trained for each of the activities undertaken by them as designated.
  • Arrange for inter-laboratory testing to be carried out for all tests undertaken and analyse results obtained accordingly.
  • Have a broad knowledge of the requirements of ISO 9001, 17025. 14001 and OHSAS 18001 systems.
  • Prepare laboratory activities for external audits by ILAC approved auditing bodies for test accreditation and by local Government officials and clients representatives.
  • Oversee and/or carry out internal audits to ensure compliance with equipment and test procedure requirements and compliance with the Company's Quality Management System.
  • Ensure that laboratory activities are in compliance with Company's Quality Management System.
  • Maintain the laboratory such that all calibrations are current at all times.
  • Ensure that equipment and reagents are provided to the laboratory such that testing can be performed without undue delay
  • Provide a Monthly report of all laboratory related activities to the Chemical Laboratory Manager. 

QHSSE Accountabilities and Responsibilities

  • Ensure that Fugro policies and procedures are understood, implemented and adhered to by all employees.
  • Ensure that all aspects related to safety when using and disposing of hazardous substances are effectively dealt with in accordance with recognised procedures / standards.

Qualifications / Skills / Experience

  • Recognized Bachelor's Degree / Master's Degree in Chemistry.
  • Certification by a recognized organization as an Internal Auditor would be advantageous. 

Role Specific Technical Competencies

  • At least 5 years' experience in a similar position will be required.
  • In-depth knowledge about Analytical instrumentation like GC-MS,GC-FID,ICP,TOC and Ion Chromatograph etc.
  • Good analytical skills and good command of English, oral and written.
  • Good working knowledge of relevant international testing standards like APHA,USEPA etc.
  • Have a broad knowledge of the requirements of ISO 17025, 14001 and OHAS 18001 systems.
  • Desired additional job experience includes knowledge in inorganic Chemistry instrumentation like ICP,   TOC, Ion Chromatography etc.
  • Sound knowledge of QAQC protocols of ISO 17025.
  • Knowledge of test method developments, validation, UoM measurements, training skills, Proficiency testing participation results.
