Key Responsibilities

  • Assist geotechnical engineer with routine geotechnical data processing, basic data presentation, report and procedure compilation for submission,
  • Assist with all administration for efficient organisation and function of the department including but not limited to project progress and status, resource monitoring, monitoring and tracking leave planning, schedule of geologists, personnel data profiles and information and handling
  • Maintain the engineering data base and keep track of backups and control
  • Input geotechnical data to logging software and ensure completeness. Prepare project binders, control documents and monitor submission to client particularly on large reporting scheme project.
  • Maintain a project listing with relevant details, maintain library of technical references.
  • Provide direct assistance to regional engineering manager in all general department matters and minuting department meeting when required.
  • Assist generally with office duties related to organisation of the work place of the engineering department.


  • Ensure that Fugro policies and procedures are understood, implemented and adhered to by all employees.

Qualifications / Skills / Experience

  • Min. 3 years secretarial, technical assistant experience.
  • Good through knowledge of Microsoft Work and Excel.
  • Knowledge of other MS office suites including Access and CAD
  • Data Management skills, Document Controlling

Role Specific Technical Competencies  

  • Perform basic data processing, operate CAD modification.
  • Should have a good understanding of documentation and document control process.
  • Should be able to maintain and track the various assets within the department which include, books, software leys, technical journal, engineering tools and gadgets.
  • Develop routine spreadsheet upon level of technical competencies and development of data presentation format using geotechnical logging software and other graphical tools
  • Awareness of any specific health and safety measures needed on the office work place.
  • Attend department meeting when necessary and make minutes
  • Resource tracking, leave planning and tracking sheets, staff information and profiles maintenance
  • Maintain good relationship with peers and other department personnel (Operations, Laboratory, and Commercial staff).
  • Support engineers for compilation of geotechnical data, report, procedure document
  • Organise and maintain the report filing system and the company's reports database
  • Liaise with project engineer and geologist to compile draft project logs and data.
