Job Summary

Reporting directly to the Regional Legal Counsel APAC, the Senior Contracts Specialist / Legal Counsel would provide advice / guidance to Business Development and Tendering teams on legal and compliance matters, as well as, assisting Project leaders in the execution of projects in the Region.


Primary Duties and Responsibilities

  1. a)     Provide legal support to Business Development and tendering teams in the Region (pre-qualification, tender review and negotiation support)
  2. b)     Provide contract support to Project leaders in the APAC Region (contract/vessel charters review and commercial claim drafting and support)
  3. c)     Provide advice about debt collection, pre-litigation disputes and litigation, 
  4. d)     Provide support in relation to corporate housekeeping in the Region in relation with Country Managers,
  5. e)     Assist with any compliance related matters (including export control and sanctions related matter),
  6. f)      Liaise with external law firm as required,
  7. g)     Implementation of the Group Legal Procedures,
  8. h)     Assist on Insurance matter in the Region.
  9. i)     Assist with corporate secretarial functions in the Region

Principal Working Relationship

  1. a)     Report directly to Regional Head of Legal APAC based in Singapore.
  2. b)     Work with Regional Directors and Country Managers for efficient resolution of legal and contractual issues.
  3. c)     Work with Regional Financial Controller team on financial and administrative control (as applicable).
  4. d)     Work with Project execution teams on contract and claim support.


Qualifications required

Degree in Law / Quantity Surveying or related field. Knowledge of both Civil and Common Laws would be preferred.

Skills / experience required to do the job

  1. a)     Minimum 8 years' experience.
  2. b)     Experience in both marine and land construction sectors preferred.
  3. c)     Experience in vessel sales and registration, vessel transfers, financing, charters would be an added advantage.
  4. d)     Excellent written and verbal English.
