Nearshore Project Manager


Fugro is the world leading independent provider of geo-intelligence and asset integrity solutions.

We are looking for a talented, disciplined and proactive individual to join our Nearshore Business Unit, to work specifically within the Project Management team, focusing on the delivery and management of Nearshore Site Characterisation projects for Fugro GeoServices Ltd.                            

The Business Unit is seeking a highly motivated, ambitious and organised Project or Site Manager capable of running marine jack-up site investigation projects.

Reporting to the Project Delivery Manager you will be responsible for:-

  • Reviewing and understanding project requirements to ensure correctly skilled personnel and appropriate equipment is available
  • Producing Project Programmes in line with client and internal needs
  • Reviewing and understanding contract technical specifications to ensure client requirements are met or suitably managed
  • Reviewing contract agreements to ensure Fugro GeoServices Ltd can meet the terms & conditions and where necessary negotiate and agree an improved position for Fugro
  • Cost control and tracking within all aspects of the project, including but not limited to, expenditure approval and contingency build up
  • Project commercials, including but not limited to, invoicing and cash collection
  • Maintaining communications between all parties both internally and externally and chairing kick-off and progressing meetings
  • Ensuring the project documentation, including but not limited to, the project management plan, method statements and risk assessments, are in place for all activities
  • Providing assistance to the Barge Masters to ensure all maintenance, inspection records and HSSEQ documentation is completed and issued from the jack-up platforms
  • Ensuring accurate site records are maintained and issued for the project, e.g. Daily Progress Reports
  • Gathering performance data on all aspects of the project and submitting to the office in weekly and monthly reports
  • Ensuring personnel are fully aware of procedures for reporting incidents and incidents are reported to the HSE department and closed out in a timely manner
  • Ensuring an emergency response plan is in place and all personnel on site are briefed and understand its contents  

During the project preparation phase the role will be predominantly based in our Falmouth Office, with a periodic requirement for internal and external meetings in other locations, and during the project implementation and delivery phase the role will be predominantly based in the field.

The ideal candidate will be literate, articulate and flexible with very good interpersonal and strong IT skills.  A practical aptitude and experience of managing marine, vessel or jack-up platform, and/or geotechnical drilling projects will be beneficial.

Requirements include:

  • A degree level education preferably in a relevant subject such as Geology, Geotechnical Engineering or Mining
  • A minimum of 5 years project or site management experience
