The Offshore Site Investigation Reporting (OSIR) Department provides services relating to data acquisition, in situ measurement, laboratory testing and interpretation of the geotechnical parameters of the seabed and are involved in offshore site investigations for oil and gas and renewable energy developments. We work internationally and cooperate closely with our clients and other Fugro companies. OSIR are currently looking for a Geotechnical Field & Core Logging Engineer to join the team.


Roles and Responsibilities

The duties and responsibilities associated with this position include, but are not limited to:

  • Act as field engineer during site investigations;
  • Process soil and rock samples during offshore site investigation and onshore core logging operations;
  • Process and manage offshore and onshore data by using spreadsheets and in house programs;
  • Perform, check and correct field and laboratory data processed by others;
  • Assign laboratory tests and manage laboratory test programmes;
  • Check input and/or calculations for analyses performed by others;
  • Assist in the production of field and laboratory reports;
  • Produce other data deliverables such as offshore & onshore data packs.



As a Fugro Engineer you will mainly work on site characterisation and engineering projects, performing offshore site investigations, core logging, testing, preparing data for offshore and onshore deliverables and preparing factual reports in accordance with company procedures, health and safety and quality policies.


This job requires you to work offshore for several weeks in a year (e.g. North Sea, West and East Africa, Europe, Central Asia etc.) with a team of engineers to perform in situ and offshore laboratory testing, collect and process soil and/or rock samples and analyse them. When not offshore you will be required to work in the Wallingford office where you will need to process soils and/or rock samples, perform testing, data processing and prepare data into a report for our clients.


Qualifications required:

  • A degree in Civil Engineering or related discipline or equivalent


Skills required:

  • Computer literate, capable of using spreadsheets and plotting software;
  • Capable of generating a safe and quality-based culture within the offshore and onshore team.

  • No prior experience is required for this role
