An exciting opportunity has arisen for an Oceanographer to join one of the leading international oceanographic survey companies, Fugro GB Marine Limited. Specialising in renewable and coastal engineering projects, Fugro's Coastal Oceanography Department, based in Portchester (UK), are seeking a keen and highly motivated Oceanographer to join the team.


An oceanographer joining the team will carry out a range of different tasks under the supervision of senior oceanographers; this will include both office and field work, project management, data analysis and reporting, equipment preparation and metocean system integration.

The duties and responsibilities associated with this position include, but are not limited to:


  • Metocean survey setting up metocean equipment, preparing moorings, mobilising vessels, deploying equipment, collecting metocean data;
  • Processing, analysis and quality control of measured metocean data;
  • Gradual build-up of project management responsibilities for coastal projects client contact, financial management, decision making, equipment and vessel sourcing, project documentation;
  • Equipment selection and preparation prior to survey work, and demobilisation following survey;
  • Writing technical and operational reports to a high standard according to Fugro formatting rules.

Qualifications required:


  • A good marine related degree.

  • Eagerness to learn, enthusiasm for the role, keen interest in physical oceanography.
