Position Overview

 The system engineer is responsible for managing and maintaining global servers and systems, while providing escalation support from local and regional IT groups. The system engineer is part of a virtual global IT team with members in located in four regions of the world and may need to attend virtual meetings from home early in the morning or late evening as needed. The ability to multitask, while meeting strict project deadlines is required. The system engineer will need to be able to communicate complex technical subject manner to leadership in an easily understandable manner.

Responsibilities & Duties


  • Maintains a moderately complex technology or multiple infrastructure technologies to assure operational availability and process integrity; documents maintenance activities; and maintains effective security/backup systems
  • Monitors capacity, usage, and performance of assigned technologies; understands performance thresholds and analyzes and interprets data to determine issues; makes recommendations for changes and may implement agreed enhancements
  • Troubleshoots most problems within team, providing fault isolation and resolution that may be complicated by technology interdependency; analyzes cross-technology/platform issues; may serve as back-up for another technology
  • Identifies technical infrastructure requirements to support business needs; assess tradeoffs between business needs, technology requirements and costs; advises and presents resolution to stakeholder issues
  • Maintain documentation and training materials as needed for processes, policies, and application support
  • Write and maintain custom scripts to increase system efficiency and lower the human intervention time on any tasks
  • Liaise with vendors and other IT personnel for problem resolution and support.


Minimum Qualifications & Skills


  • Experience administering Windows Active Directory & DNS
  • 7+ Years performing IT administration, support or configuration management
  • Experience administering Microsoft Exchange 2013+
  • Experience with MS Powershell and scripting development
  • Experience with SCCM managing over 1,000 endpoints
  • Knowledge of IP Networking fundamentals and extensive experience in the application and troubleshooting of IP protocols
  • Skills in exercising initiative, judgment, discretion and decision making to achieve organizational objectives, identify and resolve IT problems
  • Fluent in English'Written & Spoken


Desired Qualifications & Skills


  • Experience working in a multi-national organization with global teams
  • Experience administering SCOM
  • Experience with SCCM managing over 8,000 endpoints
  • Experience administering Linux Platforms (RHEL/CentOS/Ubuntu)
  • Experience managing IaaS & PaaS cloud services (AWS & Azure)
  • Experience with Microsoft Intune and/or VMWare Airwatch
