The Fugro TechCenter in Nootdorp provides R&D activities for various service lines in Fugro and we are looking for an Embedded Systems Hardware Engineer to work on the improvement program for our remote operated underwater vehicles.  




This is a product development role where you will be responsible for the design, build and testing of embedded systems hardware. Together with a multidisciplinary team of engineers you create a new control system for the Fugro remote operated underwater vehicles, to improve the vehicle functionality and sensor data throughput. The hardware will be based on FPGAs, microcontrollers and high speed communication interfaces




  • Engineering degree in a relevant field;

  • Experience in high speed system design using FPGAs and ethernet;

  • Experience in analog electronics, power supply design and interfacing to digital circuits;

  • Experience in high speed circuit board layout;

  • Good understanding of electronics manufacturing processes and limitations, and experience with working with external manufacturers;

  • Experience in building and testing of prototypes.




  • Team player with a proactive getting-things-done attitude;

  • Inquisitive nature about all things new in and out of your field of expertise ;

  • Able to work autonomously by identifying problems and solving them;

  • Able to communicate clearly and effectively in English;

  • Comfortable and confident when making decisions based on incomplete information;

  • Able to work under pressure;

  • Willing to travel incidental if necessary.




  • Embedded programming;

  • Knowledge of EMC and ESD mitigation;

  • FPGA programming;

  • Experience with Zynq processors;

  • Design of pressure tolerant electronics;

  • 3D mechanical CAD design.
