Fugro Marine Services B.V. (FMS) is the Fugro business unit responsible for the management of the Fugro owned fleet. This fleet consists of various types of offshore vessels ranging from survey to geo-technical drilling vessels. In addition, FMS provides maritime expertise to Fugro at large. Marine Assurance Officer




To be an operational independent adviser, auditor and coach for the Company and vessels on matters related to marine assurance:

  • To ensure that all onshore and offshore activities are carried out with the highest regard to the health and safety involved to the protection of the environment and prevention of pollution;
  • To ensure that all work is undertaken to the highest quality and professionalism in accordance with the Company's Management System and project specific documentation;
  • To identify training needs, bring them to the attention of the Company and to take full advantage of the training opportunities provided;
  • Measuring compliance with Fugro safety standards and regulations at all times, and in line with our clients' and local international legal maritime requirements;
  • Conducting internal and external assurance and navigational audits, third party marine inspections and incident investigations on sea-going vessels, and monitoring corrective actions where required;
  • Advising the Company, on and offshore, on maritime regulations and the interpretation thereof to ensure Flag State compliance and other maritime regulations and standards;
  • Implementing vessel safety rules and practices to promote safety on our vessels, and leading by example towards compliance through a positive and safe attitude & through contributing to the HSSE awareness of all employees by coaching and advice;
  • Developing and implementing procedures, standards and guidelines that ensure vessel operations are controlled and performed in a manner that meets Company and regulatory safety and environment requirements;
  • Regular and timely reporting, administrating, updating and controlling all responsibilities through our management system.




We are looking for an experienced Marine Assurance Officer who:

  • Has academic/higher professional education and/or working level; NEBOSH international diploma or equivalent is preferred;
  • Holds a Certificate of Competence as a Deck Officer and has 3 years onshore experience in a similar role;
  • Is fully up to speed with International Maritime legislation (ISM, ISPS, MLC, ISO etc), as well as versed in HSSE regulations;
  • Has an Internal Auditor Qualification;
  • Is keen on procedures and compliance but is also practical in solving operational challenges;
  • Has excellent communication skills in English, both verbal and in writing;
  • Is proficient in administrative responsibilities and is able to use MS Office related software;
  • Has the following competencies:
    • a focus on continuous improvement,
    • the aim to drive HSSE performance and
    • the talent to develop culture.
